Hello,

Is it possible to set my default status in messenger?
I'd like to set it automatically to busy when logging in.
Version: 5.1

Thanks,
VilMarci

Greetings,

Not in 5.1 I'm afraid. MSN Messenger and Windows Live Messenger have supported this for
awhile though. If you're not using Exchange IM or LCS/SIP you might consider using those
clients instead.

Jonathan,

5.1 is corporate standard (SIP), so I'd need a solution for this version.

Thanks,

Yes, it is possible to change the sign-in status for Windows Life Messenger (if that's what you're using).

In order to do so you need to edit a specific registry key. Go to:

HKCU/Software/Microsoft/MSNMessenger/PerPassportSettings/

Then you will see a bunch of numerical subkeys (such as 8541267 etc...). One of the entries corresponds to your current installation. This should usually be the last one in the list.

Open up the subkey and look for the following entry:
DWORD: DefaultSignInState

0 corresponds to "Online", 1 should be "Busy" etc...

Simply change the value and restart Messenger.

I hope that helps,
