I had installed the lattest MSN Messenger to have the
best connectivity but the XP messenger kept connecting
and giving a conflicting logon message. I have been
unable to delete the XP messenger (which looks almost the
same) so I tried to just update to XP Messenger V5. This
does not automatically direct me to my Hotmail account.

Is the XP messenger just a "little brother" to the MSN
Messenger?

Can I solve this problem presumably by disabling the XP
messenger without disabling a new installation of the MSN
messenger?

Check some of the previous posts. I've several posts talk
about this issue. It tells people how they can disable
Windows Messenger. I've got two versions of Messenger on
this system and don't have this problem.

Using "windows installed components" you can uninstall the
windows messenger in XP. Using this option, it will give u
the list of installed compnents and u can remove the
messenger by unckecking the tab for it but u need to have
original xp installer with from where u installed it.

My son called me with this problem.

His girlfriend tries to access her hotmail account from his computer. It
always takes her to a web page where she has the option of purchasing MSN8,
but she has NO option to get her e-mail.

My son signs off messenger. She does a "sign in as". I can see her in
messenger. She can not access her mail.

Any ideas?
