I think I have resolved my audio problems with MSN/Windows messenger by
following advice, given in this NG yesterday, by disabling QOS packet
scheduler in the network connections.

However this raises the question what does QOS do and will it effect
performance of anything else by disabling it, if it is there it must have
some function or purpose that is deeemed necessary.

TIA

Well this doesn't really answer my question it only tells me how to do what
I have already done, what I want to know is there any disadvantage in
disabling the QOS facility, will it affect anything else, if not why is it
needed at all ?
