Am I supposed to have MSN Messenger and Windows messenger on my Windows XP. My son uses MSN all the time and I don't know if he downloaded it wrong or what but I went to use MSN Messenger the other day and after I opened it (in start then programs) I noticed that I had 2 icons on my task bar, One was MSN Messenger and the other was Windows Messenger. He says he likes MSN better. Should I be removing one of them?? and if so how. Also is it normal for both icons to show up. Thanks for your help

Greetings,

Actually Windows XP is designed to run both MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger, so yes, this
is perfectly normal. If no one is using Windows Messenger however, there is no reason to
keep it running, just double-click on the Windows Messenger icon (hover over for a few
seconds over each one and it will identify itself), click the Tools menu in the main Windows
Messenger window, then Options, then Preferences tab, uncheck 'Run this program when Windows
starts' or 'Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts' (depending on what version it is) and
then click OK. Then right-click the Windows Messenger and choose Exit. You shouldn't see it
again.
