messenger alerts and nudges

I do not get any sound from WLM when my contact nudge me or when I have the
window minimized what can be done to rectify this problem. Thanks
 
problem is with version 2009 build 14.0.8064.206 downloaded version 8.1 build
8.1.0178.00 all works perfectly
