Messenger 8.1 downloading troubles?

Messenger 8.1 downloading troubles, can't load w/windows xp and
microsoft messenger on, plus A.O.L. security Msgr8us.exe. seems to
load, but the abort / retry window pops up, with about 4 - 12 % loaded
..Then when hitting retry, it flashes over and says it's 100%, and
done...but stays there, and no other pops up shows, except the same
abort retry message.
somebody please help me. thanks
 
Dont think that "microsoft messenger" exists,the two are windows messenger
& msn messenger.Either way,one must open add/remove programs,windows
components,uncheck windows messenger,close out.Restart pc,back in xp,
reinstall msn or "windows live messenger" 8.1..Also,if aol security has a
firewall,
then if you decide to use that,uninstall xps firewall,run only one at a time.
