Same thing happens here. No Firewall set, running DSL.
Latest and greatest computers, DSL modems are on NAT
protocol at the ISP. Do you have the same setup?

Did you run the Audio setup in messenger? If yes: First,
check you mic (try using speech engine). Second, make
sure mic isn't muted in volume control. Third, if neither
is the problem post details on sound card and/or onboard
sound, mic, speakers, webcam etc.

i have onboard sound on my asus a7v8x-x and plugged my external mic into
that [note i also tried the built in mic in the logitech 'home' webcam usb.

thinking the onboard sound was a problem i picked up a cheap 16 bit pci
sound card and plugged my mic and speakers in that and still no audio in msn
messenger.

I have mic and sound in all my other programs, etc speech, cuseeme etc

Everything works internally, sound checks out OK, running
the camera with its integral mike shows that the mike is
working in the software and the feedback from the
speakers. Tried the Turtle Beach card too with good sound
on the computer. I just can't transmit to the web. There
seems to be buried in the tech notes somewhere on the
Microsoft site that the DSL modem should be UPNP and that
some modems might not support that. My Cisco 675 won't.
I tried to use Yahoo messenger to the same end...no sound
transmission.
Can't understand how such a high data rate device such as
a webcam can get out but no sound can get out. SOme have
said that its the DSL portal devices, some say the
security features. Addressed all the port details, tuned
on security, no effect...Turned off security, no effect.
Generally, I'm getting ready to buy a couple of D-mode
DSL modems and try them.

this is what i'm planning to do & use until microsoft fixes this msn
messenger xp problem.

when my contact comes on line we will connect with msn messenger for text
chat, i will ask him for his IP number, then we will both start netmeeting
located here = "C:\Program Files\Netmeeting\conf.exe" then i will enter
their IP number into the dialing box and call them directly and try the cam
and audio with netmeeting bypassing msn messenger completely !
