I am running XP Home O/S with MSN Messenger 6
installed. Two friends running Win'98 SE, have now
upgraded from Messenger 5 to MSN Messenger 6.

Where previously we were able to voice talk, this is
no longer possible. MSN Audio/Video tuning wizard
tests out OK with all machines. The two friends,
each with Win '98, cannot voice with each other.

We cannot find any options to remedy the situation.
Any suggestions please. Thanks in advance. Crockett.

Are any of you trying to run voice behind a firewall? If so, disable the
firewall (temporarily) and see if voice goes through then.

My XP firewall is disabled and my Norton Internet Security
Package has not proved to be a disadvantage with other friends.
One of the '98 users does not have a firewall, and I will
check the other tomorow.
Thanks Raoul

I am also having many of the same problems that are
described. Also I can hear my friends with no problems
they just can't hear me. I uninstalled MSN Messenger 6.0
but I'm still having the same problem with windows
messenger. This is very aggravaiting. Any suggestions?

I am not absolutely positive about this, but I believe you need to have
both SSDP Discovery Services and UPnP Service enabled, and if a router
is involved, it should be set up for UPnP. UPnP is not necessarily
installed with XP Home and must be added with Add/Remove Windows
Components.
