messenger 6 and messenger 4.7, why both?

when i built my new computer i had already installed on it windows messenger
4.7. today i 've installed the new version and it works, but sometimes the
old version starts creating some problems. i don't know why the old version
does start. i think that with the new installation the old should be
uninstalled but that's not.
how can i uninstall completely the old version and use only the new one?

What all of you need to do is to prevent Windows Messenger from starting
when the computer is turned on. You can do this by clicking on
Tools/Options/Preferences and uncheck the option to start when the computer
starts. Then only MSN Messenger 6.0 will start and there will not be any
conflict.
