Okay, this is actually a question, not a comment, but for some reason it
would only let me post a comment.

Anyway, my situation is as so:
I had the Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 and some other 2005 betas. Because I
was about to get the actual release version, I went ahead and uninstalled
them. When I go to install the release versions, it all seems okay, until
Document Explorer 2005 fails to install. I check out some stuff and
eventually realize that I uninstalled stuff in the wrong order.

Is there a reasonable way to fix this?
Do I have to reinstall the beta stuff again then uninstall it correctly?
If anybody has the solution, please let me know.

I had a similar experience and tried numerous suggestions, none of which
worked. I finally bit the bullet and formatted the OS partition, reinstalled
Win XP, then installed VS 2005 and my other software. As it was my fault for
not following instructions, I consider it a lesson learned.
