I moved my, I had three, .pst file to a temp folder and then moved it back
where I got it, localsettings\microsoft\outlook. Now it will not load and
in the folder view in Outlook I have three choices but only one has my
calander right but it will not load. Can this be repaired and if so what
must I do besides never move a .pst file again. You help might save me a
lot and I will really appreciate it. I am using Outlook 2002 and Windows
XP.

Did you move the .PST files while Outlook was open, or was it closed? Is
Outlook complaining when you start it that it can't find the .PST files?
What do you mean exactly when you say "it will not load"?

Did you move it to a CD? If so, then you need to
Right click on the saved file to bring up the properties.
and remove the "Read Only" property attribute.

I am not sure if Outlook was open or not when I moved it out or back in to
the Outlook folder now. My data is in one of the Outlook.pst files but that
file will not load the Otlook home page nor will it let me change the
options on the home page I get the error "Unable to display the folder.
Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location." I ran a
search for .pst files when I go to look at them now in the Expolore they are
not where the search said they are only these files are there Outlook.src,
Outlook~1.src, and Outlook~2.src. About it will not load: I had three .pst
files, Outlook.pst, Outlook1.pst and Outlook2.pst. Outlook2.pst is the one
with my data in it. I was going to get rid of the other two that is why the
move attempt. The date can be viewed in Outlook but you have to pick from
the drop down menu. When you click on Outlook in any of the files you go
back to Outlook.pst which does not have my data in it. One other thing I
have found that might help. If you go to folder view in Outlook and right
click on the outlook folders (I have Three) and look at the properties two
of them are the same but the one I need has no Htm file. I tried copying
the one in the other two files and that did not work for some reason. I
right clicked on the Outlook button and checked it's properties and it's htm
is blank also. It loads no errror but it loads the wrong Outlook file! Ask
me more and I will maybe come up with something that might help you. thanks

Sorry about the last blank message -- sent it by mistake.

If you're using Windows 2000 or XP for your operating system, your .PST
files will be hidden from view by default. If you do a search within hidden
and system files and folders, you should find the .PST files.

If you right-click on the root folder of each of the .PST files you have
open in Outlook's Folder List right, now, are you able to click the Close
command? If so, do the files close or do you get more error messages? You
can also try going into the Properties dialog for each of the files (also on
the popup menu when you right-click the root folder) and clicking the
Advanced button to show the file path to each of these files.

I have two folders in the Outlook folders list that are the same. They are
named Outlook Today (Singer's Mail) and they use Outlook.pst. The close is
grayed out on both. The folder I need to run is named Singer's Mail uses
Outlook2.pst and I can close this one but don't want to because all my
current data is in this one. If you right click The Outlook folders and
chose properties and then click the homepage tab the two Outlook.pst have a
home page listed. When I do the same with the Outlook2.pst folder there is
no homepage entered. It may mean nothing but that is the only difference I
can find. I did find both of the .pst files. I was looking in the wrong
folder for them. All three folders have the right path to the files when I
looked on the advance tab. I can not make the Singer's Mail folder the
default one but I can use all the files, calander, notes contacts etc.. but
I have to use the Outlook list to chose them. The program always opens the
Outlook pst folder by default. I am rambling a little here but I want to
give you enough info to make it possible for you to help me. Thanks

Jocelyn, I am asking a question now. What if I imported the .pst file with
my data in it to the .pst file that seems to be the default and not import
duplacats? Would this destroy both files and leave me with nothing?

Thanks Ron

I am back to where I started. I imported the my files from the damaged
..pest to the default .pest and with a little twecking I am back home again.
I had to replace buttons on the Outlook list and get rid of some duplicate
entries. Thanks for your help and to listening to me

I hope I'm reading right that you got it working...sorry I didn't respond
sooner, I've been a little under the weather the past few days.
