Hi

My old friend has managed to 'mess up' the browser display in IE6. Please
bear with me he's in his late 70's and 200 miles away!

It sounds like there's something gone wrong with a font somewhere. On some
web sites the text appears to flow from one frame to another and get
visually mixed up?

If he logs on to another user's account on the same PC then the same web
site displays OK, so I guess its a setting in his user profile that needs
re-setting.

He's using IE6 with XPHomeSP2.

All suggestions gratefully received!

Hi BJH :-)

Start with the following and see if it helps:

To change the font text size go to IE>View>Text Size>and select the size you
want from the list.

or...

If you have a wheel on your mouse, hold down the Ctrl key and move the
wheel. This may get your fonts back to the size you want.

also.

Go to Tools> Internet options>Click the Accessibility button at the bottom
Under tthe Formatting section>make sure the "Ignore font sizes specified on
web
pages" is UNchecked.

Hope this helps :-)

Afraid that none of your suggestions helped. :-(

As IE works fine on the other user's desktops. I guess there must be a
setting somewhere that's got altered. But how to find out what?

Have them sign in as Administrator, then create a new User profile. Then
see if the problem in IE still exists. If not, then they can try transfer
over the files from the old User account to the new one and then delete the
old User account. If it does not resolve the problem.

Hope this helps :-)

Hi Jan

Had another chat with him last night and got him to tick the box "Ignore
font sizes specified on web pages" and it has sorted the problem for him.

I still think there is a font issue. I had found that if I ticked the box
on my setup and then increased my font size to maximum I could replicate
his display problem, but I had to have the box unticked for normal display.
So, there *must* be something with his font setup somewhere that's a bit
odd, I think.

But, he's happy now. (for the time being) ;-)

Glad to hear you were able to resolve your problem. Good job!

You may be right, although, it may take some timely troubleshooting to find
just what is causing it. There could be a number of things, and it may be
something that he did while trying to sort things out that he does not
remember doing it, or which it was. I just wish I could blame it on a
'senior moment' when I do that! :o)

Thank you for posting back and letting us know what worked for you, and for
the benefit of other readers who might have a similar problem. :-)
