Is it possible to message between Win XP (Home and Pro) machines over a
LAN by using Windows Task Manager? On the users tab, there is no
network user shown; the only users shown are those logged on (specific
to each machine) by using fast switching. The LAN works in other
aspects, i.e., file sharing. Also, I can message over the LAN by using
the "net send" command.

Thanks for any advice you can offer,
Rich

yes you can send messages over the network using the net send command
from the command prompt 'cmd' in the run box
command format it

NET SEND
{name | * | /DOMAIN[:name] | /USERS} text you want to send

or you could use the commandline
net help send
for a printable list of commands
