I run Outlook xp. All of a sudden I get an error message saying the
following: "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the
problems persists, restart Outlook." After restarts, I still get the
message. Any ideas what to
do? May it be a corrupted registry?? Detect and repair won't fix it neither
de and re install of the product!!!

Thanks.

There are countless causes for this error message and without knowing the
steps that produced yours we cannot even hazard a guess. I'd suggest
searching the KB and looking for one that matches your version and
situation. If you can't find one, then do the usual troubleshooting:
1. Repair your data store
2. Create a new profile from scratch.

Tried solution 2, not good. KB has this error listed but it's hotfix failed
to install!!!
What do you mean by ""repairing the data store""??? Anyway, for the time
being, I will use Outlook Express and hope to fix the darned bug soon. Thanx.

Depends on what data store you are using which you never bothered to
mention. If it is local, use the Inbox Repair Tool.

Let me be more specific. the problem occurs only when I want to access the
addresses file from the ""outlook today"" screen or if I want to add email
addresses in the "to"field after composing a new message.

I don't see what that changes. Recommendation remains the same.

I get this message when I try to delete messages in my inbox, outbox and sent items. The Inbox Repair Tool said there were no errors found. Can you help?
