Hello,
My Outlook 2002 has developed a strange problem. When
I send messages with large attachments, the message
remains in the outbox and sends repeatedly until I delete
it from the outbox. I use McAfee Online which is always
kept current and is set up to scan all incoming and
outgoing email. I have also scanned my pc just to be
sure and there are no viruses. Does anyone know what
might be wrong? Thanks!

Hi Mike,

It sounds like either your PST file is too large (bigger than 1.8 GB) or
that your Outbox might have gone corrupt. Check the size of your PST file
by right clicking on the top of your folder tree, and choosing properties.
There should be a fodler size button in there that will give you an
accurate size. Also, try creating a new Outlook profile usign the
following article, and see if using a new PST resolves the issue.

Lastly, you mention your anti-virus program. Please try shutting it down,
or disabling it to see if you have the same problem. If so, then perhaps
it is delaying the sending function of OUtlook while scanning the
attachment, and causing the item to hang in Outlook. You might also try
starting Outlook in safe mode, which will disable all the custom addins in
Outlook. (Start -> RUn -> Outlook /safe -> OK).

Keep in mind that many ISP will not allow extremely large attachments to be
sent over their mail servers. Test and see if there is a threshold size
where OUtlook leaves the sent item in the Outbox. Also contact your ISP to
see if there is a preset sending limit for your mail account.
