I receive some messages that are in (I guess) HTML. I can usually find the
text somewhere in the message, but graphics are all garbaged up. Is there
some way to read messages received in this manner? Thanks............

What program are you using to read the mail in?

Dan (Still going in circles)

Open Outlook Express ...... go to Tools > Options > Read ..... and see if
the "Read all messages in plain test" box is checked, if it's checked then
uncheck it .

Outlook Express is the program. Read in plain text is not checked. I only
have a few of my correspondents from whom I receive mail in this
fashion--but it is consistent with their mail.

This happens when the message, usually spam, does not contain the proper
header information telling OE to interpre the HTML. If the HTML is proper,
you can select the text of the message by dragging the mouse over it and
pressing Ctrl-C. Then place the text into an empty Notepad document by
pressing Ctrl-V. Save it and change the extension to HTM or MHT and it
should open in IE.

Each of these mails come with the file type - .email. These are not spam
mails but mails from my regular correspondents. Does the file type make
sense to anyone as far as not being readable?

Are they attachments?

Yes, they come as attachments. When I click to open, they usually (?) open
in word pad in which I can find the text but any graphics are simply
garbaged up.

Save One to the desktop (or wherever you'd like).
Hold down the shift key while you right click it.
Make sure "Always use this program" is checked.
Select Internet Explorer from the list.

The first time, don't have the always open with box checked,
you want to be sure you are getting the result you want.

I have changed to IE as you suggest but it will not open in that way. Any
more suggestions?
