message threading needs significant improvement

IF you ever sort View by "conversation", the results are VERY HARD TO READ.
No need to have all the cascading structure for single messages that has no
replies. NO reason to have date/time received on a line by itself.

Just think what a user would really want to have:

I want to be able to group together ALL the messages that people replied to
within a single thread. In the business world that heavily reply on
emails, there are always lots of replies flying around, from different
people. It's also more useful if the threading can be done like it is done
on newsgroups/discussion forums.

Which version of Outlook do you use? Many of the threading problems were
fixed in 2003.
