Matt

I used to use outlook express 6, where in the "tools -
message rule" section, it's possible to delete or not
download unwanted emails from the server. However since
switching over to "Outlook 2000" I can see nothing in
the "tools" section that allows me to perform the same
task. The rule that does this in outlook express is not in
the "Rules Wizard" in Outlook. Could anyone please tell me
if there is a solution to this problem. Many thanks.

AFAIK you can't. Rules are being processed when they are downloaded. You can
however go to your webbased mailclient if provided by your provider and see
if you can set rules there. This way the rule is already processed before
Outlook can download the message.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately my mailclient doesnt
provide that option. It seems odd that a less
sophisticated program like Outlook Express provides a far
more useful command than Outlook does. It seems I may have
to revert back to Express.

I'm not sure about Outlook 2000 but with Outlook 2002 and 2003 you can set
the synchronisation option to only download headers;
Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Setup-> button Send/Receive-> button Edit...
