Hi,

I get about 3 or 4 messages a day offering to GIVE me millions and
millions of dollars if would just send my banking information to some
country in Africa ... Zimbabwe, Cote d Ivorie, Nigeria, etc. Well, so far,
I have resisted the temptation <g>. I have made a Message Rule that dumps
any email containing those countries into a folder called HOAX. It works
pretty well but I notice that sometimes messages slip past the rule and get
into my inbox. It seems to be when there are two identical messages. It
apparently grabs the first one and then lets the second one pass.

Is there any way to catch both instances. I know there is an option to stop
processing all rules but I don't have it checked and I don't think that's
the answer.

TIA,

Tom

Writing rules to catch spam is a never-ending process.
You might try setting WM's Junk E-mail options to High or
Safe list Only. Alternatively, there are free third party
anti-spam utilities: K9 and POPFile.

Gary,

Actually, the filter is catching the keywords just fine. It's just that the
second instance of two identical message is slipping through.n But, I had
forgotten that I could set a higher setting on WM Junk filter. I'll check
it out.

Yes, I had MailFrontier on XP and it was great. But, it appears that Vista
has made it and other programs like that redundant.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi,
If the messages are really identical, this advice is useless, but...

I would check "stop processing more rules" and try moving this particular
rule up higher in the rules list. Rules are applies in the order they're
listed and another rule may be interfering.

Hope this helps,

Ok Don, I'll give that a try. As far as I can tell, they are identical,
just sent twice.

But wait, if I move it to number 1 position and then say "Stop processing
more rules" won't that invalidate all the rest of my rules? Or, does it
mean stop processing more rules in this particular email. Yeah, that's
probably it.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi,
"Stop processing more rules" means "Don't apply any other rules to this
message."
