I get a message presumably from IE6 telling me that a script on the page is
causing IE to run slowly and gives me the option of terminating the script.
However, the script repeats and so does the IE message which becomes
annoying. A subsequent message tells me "out of memory at line: 56". The
problem might be specific to a particular website but is there are way of
preventing this message?

Hi,
Unless you're seeing problems with the page...
From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced...
Check "Disable script debugging" and uncheck "Display a notification about
every script error."

Hope this helps,

Don, thank you. My settings were already as you suggested. May be it is just
a badly designed website? (although it belongs to a major news media
organisation)
regards
Greg

Hi,
If the problem only occurs at one site and if the site appears to be working
properly, you may have to just ignore the warning.

Also, probably won't help, but can't hurt to clear the Temporary Internet
Files.

Don, I have found that the problem is not apparent on other computers when
browsing this particular site. The problem seems to be in the laptop /
browser, not anywhere else. I have cleared the temp files, any other
suggestions?
TIA ... Greg

Do you have any software which tries to interfere with the presentation of ads?
E.g. one possible explanation for such a symptom would be a loop which
normally takes the time to display an ad has had that timing factor removed
by the removal of the presentation of the ad. Some "major news media" sites
have such loops. It's how they could pay for their free service.
