Go into BIOS and make sure your machine is booting from the hard drive..That PXE error is saying it is trying to boot from a netowrk....
As for Copying the XP cd...Well if you are going to copy it and use it to do installs on other machines, then yes it is wrong...But if you are copying it purely to use as a repair disk, there's nowt wrong with that...But instead of that why not go Here and create an Ultimate Boot CD.....Job done..

how do i get into bios on laptop.if f8 not letting me thanks for the link will have a look .

Use either F1 or F2 to get into BIOS and F8, F9 and F10 for safe mode depending on what kinda computer you are using..
When you start the computer up and its shows the POST screen, in either the bottom left or bottom right corner it will tell you to presseither F1 or F2 to enter BIOS config...Again depends what sort of computer you are using..

Erm well if you got as far as the screen telling you there was a PXE error then you have gone you have gone past the post screen...Switch it off again and as soon as you switch it back on start to tap F1..F1 been the key to enter BIOS for your machine...Also check to see you haven't left a CD in the CD drive..It might be trying to boot from that...

hiya buddy still no luck with this, its not preventing laptop from booting up,

but when tap f1 still nothing but when f2 get toshiba screen with icons at bottom showing cd layer - cd single - cd and folder etc well thats what icons look like ran from each of these but still no joy. i can get into bios on my desktop no probs but not in this, is there a possibility that because this has been imported from china or japan, and had hardware etc put into it that this might be having problems locating bios section.. cheers for responce mate!!!

Try pressing the DELETE key on boot-up> as soon as you start the lappy keep pressing the key on and off quickly:) TAP>TAP>TAP>TAP>Etc:
