Hello...

Ever since yesterday, I've been able to get online, but can't open IE
becuase a message comes up stating "Internet Explorer has encountered a
problem and has to close". I'm already planning to reinstall IE6, but is
there anything else I should probably do?

Hi Terry :-)

This problem can be caused by many things, including malware, Trojans and
other types of scumware. You don't mention the version of Windows you are
using, but, try the following and see if it helps:

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry

If no joy..work through the following to fully clean any malware from your
system

Be aware, your Anti-Virus won't detect all types of warez, Trojans, malware,
worms, etc and neither can other aware or spyware related programs such as
AdAware and SpyBot. They don't have the proper definitions. So even if you
run it and nothing shows up, it does not mean your system is clean. It
takes a series of programs to fully clean your machine. Some very aggressive
and damaging variants of malware can replicate themselves repeatedly, or
mutate, if not removed properly. Follow the steps here:

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Also..download, install, immediately update and run these two programs in
Safe Mode with Hiddlen files enabled:
AdAware SE - Update immediately after installing

SpyBot S &D - Update immediately after installing

Then Dlowload and install HiJackThis. This is one of the most important
steps. Follow all instructions carefully. This program should be run in
Normal mode.

updated)

Please.. DO NOT post your log HiJackThis log to this newsgroup. DO NOT
delete anything from the list yourself unless you are an experienced user of
this program. It is important that you go to one of the HiJackThis Support

Thanks for the information! Hey, since I can't open IE at home, I have to
use another computer to download the info. Unfortunately, the files can't
fit on a floppy. Any way to make them zip files at all or are there
downloads small enough to fit on a floppy. What I really need to do (and I
may tomorrow) is get one of those USB drives I've seen. That will help out a
lot.

Thanks again!
