Suddenly I see a warning pop up on my browser to the effect that others can
see the info I'm sending to the Internet. I assume I must have dinged up
the security settings somehow, but can't find any reference to the message.
Please help.

Internet Options> Advanced> Security... uncheck "Warn if changing between
secure and not secure mode."

I like seeing that popup. You can turn it off, but I like
every bit of information that I can get the system to
share with me. And I don't watch the tiny padlock icon
wink in and out of existence in the status bar, which
correlates with the messages.

Whether you want the security alert or not, the fact is
that if a site is not secure, it's not secure. You
probably didn't screw up any security settings.

There's the other kind of security alert that I've seen
for years: the bogus ad that flashes at you on a Web page
and makes it sound scary that you're broadcasting your IP
address, so click here to save yourself from perdition.
If that's what you're getting, PT, don't touch it. The
[x] for "close" can be part of a big image link covering
the whole popup.

Cheers,
Ken
