Hi:

I got a file I need to download and I'm getting this
message: OE removed access to the following unsafe
attachments in your mail: and then it lists the file I
want.

Can you advise me how to get this file?

Thanks!
Nancy

this must have been asked and answered at LEAST 140,000 times now. Do
people NEVER do ANY research?

Tools-Options-security. That's 140,001 times now.......

And you are NOT "downloading" a file, you are trying to open an
attachment. there's a world of difference between the two.....

Nancy,

This is due to the virus protection feature implemented in Outlook Express.

If you are sure that the attachment is safe to download or open, use the following method:

Turn off the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus option:

Start Outlook Express.
On the Tools menu, click Options.
Click the Security tab, click to clear the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus check box under Virus Protection, and then click OK.

Greetings --

Outlook Express' default security settings are simply trying to
protect you. OE has no way of telling whether an attachment actually
contains a virus or not, so it temporarily blocks any of those file
types that could potentially contain a virus. In Outlook Express,
Tools > Options > Security, uncheck the "Do not allow attachments to
be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" option, assuming
you trust the source, of course. The wiser course of action, however,
would be to modify your list of unsafe files, as outlined in the KB
articles below:
