MESH computer recovery partition - how to use it?

I've just got my computer back from Mesh after a repair,
during which they wiped the drive and re-installed XP.

At first it looked as if it had just one partition -
but when I looked at System Information I noticed:

Disk 0 Partition 0 2,623,832,064 bytes
Disk 0 Partition 1 58,868,328,960 bytes

What is this unseen little partition for?
(It doesn't show in Windows Explorer - and has no drive letter.)
It is labelled "Recovery".
Is it a Drive Image?
Or a Ghost image?
How is it supposed to be used?
(Mesh don't seem to document it at all.)

It is the set of files used for restoring the system to ex-factory
state; maybe from an initial boot of some floppy or CD, maybe by hitting
a hot key at power on. Either way leave it strictly alone. And next
time go to a maker that does not do things this way

Actually there is during boot a message that says "Press F10 for
recovery". Do you think that might be the way into it?
I haven't liked to try it - in case I get into something I can't get out
of.

But the Mesh recovery CD does seem to be very like a normal retail XP
CD. I have in the past wiped the HDD and done a clean install using it
- and it seemed to behave like a retail CD - except that I finished up
without the hidden partition because I'd fdisked to start with.

But now I'm wondering if I could have done an easier clean install using
the hidden Mesh partition. I can't find its use documented anywhere
though.
So I wondered if anyone here has ever used it?
And if so how?
