Merging With Word, But Starting In Outlook

I'm using O2003/W2003. I currently select my contacts in Outlook,
Mail Merge with Word and it works fine. I'm using Plain Text to send
my emails.

It seems if I want to start sending email messages in HTML, I first
need to start in Word, Mail Merge and then select the contacts from
Outlook. Is that correct?

Its easier (and what I'm used to) to me to start in Outlook, select
the file and merge, however, I can only merge in Plain text. Even if
I select HTML, it converts the email to plain text.

Is it possible to start the merge in Outlook, merge with Word and use
HTML?

Not so. You can still select HTML format when you start the merge from
Outlook. In fact, it is the default. If it is not, you will have the ability
to change the format when you hit the Merge to Email button on the Mail
merge Toolbar.

Russ:

Thanks. I didn't realize there was an email toolbar. I was just
using the mail merge toolbar. Thank you.

Thanks. I meant to say I didn't realize there were those other
options on the mail merge toolbar.

Right. the Mail Merge Task Pane can lead to dead ends. It's always better to
use the Mail Merge Toolbar.

Russ:

When merging to email and using the HTML format, is there anyway in
the email merge not to print blank lines. This is not an option when
merging to email using HTML format.

Don't know. I haven't run into this issue and won't have any time to test
it. Someone in the mail merge groups might be able to help.
