Is it possible to retrieve the name of the fields in a
word document, and replace them with values, coming from
a database ?

Hi Guy,

Lol, I guess you want to know <how> as well, eh? ;-)

Would you know how to write what you want in VBA? What do you know about
Word Automation? VB.NET is quite comfortable with Automation of Office
products but it can help if you have it written in VBA first.

This newsgroup is not heavy on Word, though there is an expert who drops
in from time to time. You might like to try one or two of the Word and Office
development newsgroups:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.office.developer.automation
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.office.developer.office.sdks
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.office.developer.officedev.other
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.word.vba
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.word.vba.general
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.word.vba.beginners
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.word.vba.userforms

Fergus

Hi guy
I don't know how, but I think it is not impossible.
Maybe you can ask it in a microsoft office newsgroup.
I am thinking about a combination from MS Word and MS Access.
When they have told you how to do it in VBA.
You can send that code to this newsgroup.
Then maybe there is someone (mostly there is) to help you to put it in the
VB.net language.
This is not a Word as well as not a Database newsgroup.
I hope this brings you in the right direction.

Hi Fergus,
This was my first answer too, but I skipped it.
I saw you did the same afterwards.

Did you ever get any help on this? If not, do you have a
particular kind of field in mind, or are you setting this
up from scratch?

Hi Fergus

Say, I'm going to be gone for about ten days. There are a
ocuple of message threads where there person hasn't
followed up, yet. Just in case they do, and you happen to
notice, can you apologize on my behalf? Thanks :-)!

Hi Cindy,

No problem.

I've only seen this one and
how to print multiple word documents via vb.net
But I see you in
Datafile for mailmerge in word
VB.NET & WORD 2000
which I'll add to my monitored list.

Have a good trip - hope it's got some fun built in. ;-)

Best regards,
Fergus

Hi Cindy,

Nice to see you again. ;-)

White-water rafting? Typhoon chasing? (That's one I'd love to do)

Please notice that _private mail_ exists. If you don't have a valid
