Hi!

Is there an available merge module for the .NET Framework 2.0, or do I
absolutly have to launch the "dotnetfx.exe" redistribution package? (Why is
it the same filename as the previous one?)

Also, when will any user be able to update its computer with .NET 2.0 using
Windows Update? Up to now, it's not available in either "recommanded",
"optional" or "mandatory" updates.

Thanks !

You have to run the redist exe.

Very early in .NET there was almost a merge module to install the framework
(it might have briefly escaped) but it's not very practical from the point
of view of maintence with service packs etc.

Personnaly, I'd prefer that the framework is installed by the user himself,
that's why I'd like to know if there will be a Windows Update "module" soon.

Actually, I detect the presence of the framework and if it is not there, I
launch the dotnetfx.exe. But this way, I have to provide the "dotnetfx.exe"
with my product. I'd prefer to tell the user "hey buddy, get Framework 2 from
Microsoft and reinstall later..."

Thank!
