When creating a letter with a BLOCK ADDRESS, the merge produced the following:

Name
Address
City on 3rd line
State with comma and Zip on 4th line

To teach my students, I now need to have them insert each variable field for
the address separately.

Question: Will MS fix this problem?

You might want to try asking your question in one of the Office
newsgroups...like microsoft.public.office.misc.

You do not give what version of Word -merge requires a "source" document -
Access, Excel, File you crearted and so forth - from which the data is is
selected for the place holders (name, address,etc.).
