I certain websites the menus don't work. I have all my settings at default
on IE explorer. One specific site is www.quicken.com.au which I use on a
regular basis. I have contacted the webmaster and I am having no difficulty
with a member website that they have written. I don't have this problem on
other computers.

Hi Robyn,

I have visited quicken.com.au and there is nothing out of the usual with the
web site and because IE menus work on other computers when they visit the
site then the obvious is that it has something to do with your Internet
Settings.
Are you using a work computer that is on a network? If so you should contact
your Administrator and mention that particular site. They may have
restrictions on the use and visitation of certain sites.

Otherwise the only other possibility is that you have this site listed in
the Restricted Zone (Tools>Internet Options - Security tab - Restricted
Zone) but even that should not change the menus in IE. (or did you mean the
menus that appear when you right-click on a web page - called the Context
Menus)

If you meant the Context menu, then you may not have scripting enabled
(Tools>Internet Options - Security Zone - Internet Zone). But then again the
site in question has no java scripting to replace the default context menus.

Please post back here if you are sucessful in tracking down the problem.

Hi Rob,

Yes I also think that it is my machine. I am not on a network. I am on a
LAN (Peer to Peer) and my machine has direct access to the Internet through
its own connection.

It is the menus that should appear when you click on the row of buttons
across the top of the page eg Home, Products, Support, etc. I am having no
trouble with context (right click) menus.

I appreciate your quick response.

Hi again Robyn,

Well I'm stumped. The only viable cause are administrator settings. The
source code (HTML and scripts) of the page in question has nothing to do
with disabling IE's menus. I am afraid that I cannot offer you a solution.
What menus are we talking about here. Edit>Copy or Paste - These menus only
appear if you have selected a part (or all) of a web page.

If you want to retain a copy of the page use the File>Save As menu option.

Hi Rob,

I have spoken to the website developers again, this is there reply.

All our IT guys can make is that you have some software running on your
computers that block the loading of the banner advertising. The menus load
after the advertising, so if that is stopped you don't get the menus.

Could be in Firewall software as well as specific Ad Blocker.

I will try and check these things out.

Thanks for your suggestions
Robyn

Need more detail about what you are seeing then.
Except for Home those buttons all launch popup menus via mouseover.
E.g., are you seeing anything in the Status bar when you do that?
You should be seeing the address of a menu page there when the
mouse pointer hovers over one.

The popup menu only works if JavaScript is enabled and working.
So it wouldn't work if your Security settings were High for example.
However, the button is also designed to work as a normal link
In that case when the button is clicked the browser opens the page shown
and the same set of menu items appear as links on the left side.
If necessary you could try using such a Security setting just to eliminate
the Javascript factor from your symptoms.

The only odd case in the above workaround is the Products menu.
It goes directly to the PersonalFinance submenu page.
(A Products directory does exist but we're not allowed to see it.)
In that case to get to the other submenu pages I guess you would
have to resort to their sitemap

The page uses a lot of JavaScript. Make sure that active scripting is not
turned off in the Custom Level settings for the Internet zone in Tools |
Internet Options | Security.
