Menu speed?

How do you change the "Taskbar" menu popup speed? I
place the mouse over the "programs" menu and 3 seconds
later the next window opens. (this is slow) All menu
items work this same way.

Thanks

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop registry key and change
string value "MenuShowDelay" - it shows menu delay in milliseconds. You
may set number from 000 to 999. I suggest 000.

Thanks! It was set to 2800? Is there a way that this
could have changed? It was not like this yesterday. It
now works like it should. Going to the registry is not a
normal event for me.

Thanks (again)

2800=2.8 seconds and yes an application you may have installed may have had a script in it to change this. Or you may have added some useless program like Tweak UI and have chosen a menu show delay of 3 secs. I personally have mine set at 250 as I hate the instant open every time my cursor glances over a list option. For instance I click start and then drag my cursor over the Programs on the lower left to get to My Computer or the Administrative tools and if I have it set to 000 then the list opens immediately and I have to click in a blank area to close it. A real pain as far as I'm concerned. So 250=1\4 second and that works better for me. After all what's a 1\4 second delay. Good luck.

Rather than edit the registry, use the TweakUI program included as part
of the Powertoys for Windows XP. It provides a slider where you can
adjust the menu delay.
