Menu options in 2007

Why have all the menu titles and options changed so dramatically in Office
2007? It would have been so much easier to switch if we did not have to spend
a horrendous amount of time learning the new menu names and what they have
within them. This is the one big reason I hate Office and Microsoft as of now
especially with Office 2007.
If there is any other option out there I am game to try that and ditch MS
Office for good.

A suggestion : ask people that have been using 2007 for months what they
think about the ergonomy.
I felt the same sensations as you did, the first time I used 2007.
Now, 2 years later I DON'T WANT to come back to the 2003 menus ;)))

Exactly what jpf said. I work in both regularly and I hate it when I have to
use the old menus. It does take a little while to get used to though.

Not me, for all the time I've been using it, I still find it
cumbersome. I find it usually takes me several clicks more to do any
task than in the previous version, mostly because I often have to go
to one side of the screen to click on a tab, then the other to access
the function I need. And then I need to switch back to the original
tab to access what I was doing prior. At least with the menu system,
it's just a click and drag down.

Going to 'Home' to insert a new slide, instead of the 'Insert' tab
still throws me occasionally.

....and don't get me started on 'Reuse slides' ;)

You don't need to move so much and click on a tab; just roll your mouse
wheel "above" the tabs
And customise your access bar: One click to work with!

That's actually a nice tip, didn't know that (and it doesn't have to
be above the tabs, anywhere in the 'ribbon' works with the scroll)

And, yes, I have added many commands to my access bar. Of course, that
also means that I usually will not remember how to access them when I
get to another machine that doesn't have them, or to explain a process
to someone (I was trying to tell someone how to apply a name to a
shape, and couldn't remember where the 'Selection Pane' was)
