Menu at top of document - How do I restore it?

Somehow the menu at the top of a screen when I'm in Word has vanished and I have tried everything to get it to return without success. For instance I want to change my margins and I used to go to the top of the page and choose an icon that opened up an option to change margins - I no longer have the icon visable and I don't know the keyboard commands for that.

Please help
 
Check View | Toolbars | Formatting This should bring back your menu items.
