I downloaded Memtest86+ v3.5. Test ran it on 2 PCs (a PII and a P4). Ran
great - found no errors.
I just finished assembling a Core i7 rig and ran v3.5 and the prog freezes 4
seconds in, 7% on the first test. Every time.

I just downloaded v3.4 and it is chugging away on the i7 right now - no
problems.

Anyone else see this happen?

Not Memtest86+ - Memtest86 by Brady Tech

That is odd. Try Memtest86+
http://www.memtest.org/ Maybe that will work better.
If you really want to see if your computer is stable use IntelBurn.

I downloaded it and got the floppy ready to go. I'll let MT v3.5 run one
more pass and then run MT+ v2.11 tonight (if it doesn't freeze).
Thanks

Memtest+ v2.11 runs fine. 3 passes no errors.
Maybe a bad download on v3.4?

I couldn't use v3.4 with a couple of nVidia-based mobos (ECS
GeForce6100SM-M and nForce6M-A) because the letters on the screen were
chopped off and I couldn't see any activity, but v3.5A worked fine. I
believe only some of the 2.x versions of MemTest86 were known for
giving false positives, something I experienced myself with v2.5 (?)
and that was reported by others. So I'd trust MemTest86 a lot more
than any memory module, and if any diagnostic found an error, I'd
replace the module (or at least change the BIOS settings) rather than
look for other diagnostics (but if you want something almost
guaranteed to pass your memory, try DocMem ;) ).

Another really good diagnostic is Gold Memory, but the newest
shareware, v. 6.92, has never found an error for me (but neither has
MemTest+ vers. 1.7x and 2.11). v. 5.07 is what I use:
