| how do i configure it so as to test a specific memory module?
|

Are you running memtest86 http://www.memtest86.com

memtest 3.5 ? http://hcidesign.com/memtest

You can't. if using memtest86

Take out all the installed ram and only install the dimm you wish to test.
Boot the pc with the memtest CD or floppy and it will test the installed
memory. Once you are happy with the number of test passes run the test again
on another dimm until you have tested each one individually and then run a
test with the full amount of memory you require installed.

Actually, I'd do that in reverse:
Run a FULL test, with ALL the memory in place, in the configuration you
want to run in; and then *only* if that fails should you remove and test
the modules independantly.

Just my opinion, of course. YMMVW.
