I am getting a new laptop Dell 8600 running XP PRO. How
much memory should i get? When I look it up on the dell
sit they reccommend 512 2 Dimm. Is that enough

Hi Tom.

Should be fine unless you are doing heavy graphic work or video editing.

I assume you are reffering to RAM. This all depends on what exactly you want to do and how well you want to do it. For instance. Some systems do not have a seperate video card and use the mother board. Well I suggest a video card with 128MB of memory at least. As for the RAM that too depends on what you want to do and how well you want to do it. If you are running extremely graphic intensive games then in addition to a 128MB video card you may want 1G of RAM. For the average user a 64MB vid card and 512MB of RAM will be sufficient. If on the other hand you are talking HDD space then that too depends on what you are doing. I personally recommend a minimum of 40G for todays environment. 512MB of RAM with a pagefile set to system managed size will suffice for most stand alone home computers. Good luck.
