My computer is running rediculously low on memory (13%,
and it needs 15% just to defrag), which I can't figure out
why since I have almost nothing installed. I've gone
through and deleted everything I could find, I even
removed Office, but I still can't seem to get any
substantial memory. I'd like to put office back on. I
know I can go buy it, but I don't have the money right now
(for memory), and it just seems odd to me that I have that
much memory used up for basically nothing. There's also a
bunch of programs that were deleted outside the remove
program, so that it won't completely remove them now.
What's taking up a lot of memory is the windows updates.
Do I really need them? Do I need all of them? Are there
some that I can delete? Please, please someone help me
out with this.

Hi

Open Task Manager - Ctrl-Alt-Del - then have a look at the CPU column - what is taking up all the amount of memory?

That's the main problem, Task Manager has disappeared!
ctrl-alt-del does nothing now, and everywhere I look to
find an alternate way to the manager it's just gone. The
only reference to it comes when I do a direct search for
it, and then it's a class file my comp can't read. HELP!!

O.K. lets start from the begining-what kind of computer is it and how
much memory do you have installed. What OS are you running. You need to
provide some information in order for us to know what the problem is. :-)

You seem to be confusing memory with hard drive space. Freeing up hard drive
space will not help you if your problem is memory. If your problem is hard
drive space, referring to it as memory will get you all sorts of answers
that won't solve your problem.

What, exactly, is the error message you're getting?
