Is there anyway to test or find out if the memory is bad?
Everytime I try to open a progam it will start to open
and then just freeze, so I open task manager and it says
it is not responding. Then I have a hard time getting it
to close. I also get the message pretty frequently that I
don't have enough memory, or that I am low on virtual
memory and window is increasing the size of your virtual
memory. My system came with only 128 and I increased it
to 256 as soon as I bought it about 18 months ago. It
started this about a month ago but has gotten real bad
the last week or so. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

When you boot your machine up what does the memory check
show?

I have had RAM problems before where I had 768 mb RAM but
it would only show a weird value between 512 and 768. I
found out my 256 stick was toast. When I booted into
windows with that stick still installed I had many
problems.

If you want to test your ram just put one stick in at a
time and boot you system and see how it runs, then
alternate.
