I AM RUNNING WINDOWS XP ON MY HP541 C THAT IS
APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AND 1 MONTH OLD(1 MONTH OVER
WARRANTY). MY COMPUTER HAS BEEN LOCKING UP AND IT IS
REPORTING VIRTUAL MEMORY TOO LOW. I BOUGHT A MEMORY
BOOSTER THAT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM.

You seem to have one other problem. Your capslock key is apparently
jammed in the on position.

Posting in all-capitals is the equivalent of SHOUTING and is
considered by some to be a bit rude. It is also very much harder to
read than normal typing. For these reasons posts in all-capitals are
likely to be ignored by many people and therefore your chances of
getting a useful response are reduced.

According to the HP web site the Pavilion 541C comes standard with 512
mb of RAM and has an AMD Athlon 2000+ CPU.

That Athlon CPU eliminates one of the major causes of false messages
regarding low virtual memory.

However, there is another one that might be the cause. Does this
message happen when you go to shut down the computer (and only when
you go to shut down)? If so, and if you have Norton Internet Security
installed then that would be the prime suspect. Download the file
LRSETUP.EXE from http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/files/lu/lu.html and
run it.

If that is not your exact problem then please read MVP Alex Nichol's
web page re virtual memory in Windows XP at
http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm especially the section dealing with
problems.

One final point. You did not say which memory booster you purchased,
but that really doesn't matter. They are all pure snake oil products
that are totally incapable of performing any beneficial whatever under
any circumstances. Do yourself and your computer a favor by
uninstalling it.

Good luck
