A previous posting showing the same problem however the final solution
was not given which I would be very grateful if this could be supplied
- I hope it is ok to request the solution like this as any help would
be gratefully received!

"Memory access violation in module kernel32 @ xxxx:xxxxx" (NB: This
number appears to be different everytime the pc starts!) I have
replaced memory sticks and problem persists.

The window with this message appears when booting the pc, after the
bios set-up prompt, but before windows starts. The window heading is
"Error occurred".I can get into the safe mode menu, and select safe
mode, but even from here the pc stalls with the same message when
windows attempts to load. If I select the step by step option, there
are no obvious drivers loading which I think might cause a problem? in
fact the bare minimum drivers are being loaded anyway by default on
this pc.

If I try the dos prompt option, I can get to the c:\ prompt and look
at
the c drive etc, but if i try to load windows from here I get the same
problem. If you leave the error message onscreen, after a while the
screensaver
starts. If you click the "ok" button on the error message the screen is
left blank apart from the windows wallpaper, and there are no screen
icons,
shortcuts, start button, etc, and you can do nothing with the pc
except
control, alt, del and switch off the pc.

I've checked that all cards are in their slots properly and there are
no
loose wires etc, and the memory module is seated ok. I have also
reseated
the memory module in another slot, but still the problem persists.

This is a cut/paste from the prev thread saying sorted prob but not
how!

"Thanx for the info, it was indeed the Swen virus, which has now been
removed and the pc has been cleaned and new anti virus and firewall
programs installed. Also found 3 other viruses and about 80 nasties
with Ad Aware (v6) and Spy Bot (v1.2)Thanx all for the helpful
info...Peter"

If Peter could paste how he resolved the issue I would be very
grateful with directions where he got the tools to sort/with
instructions as I new to these sorts of issues and solutions!

With regards

in the bios....change 'PnP os installed' to OPPOSITE of what it is.......reset configuration data to YES

Many thanks for the replies - I had to rewrite using the regedit and
then the swenfix cured the problem - all detailed in the following
link

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

as a following on I have received an e-mail today with "supposed"
patches from microsoft to help!! Remember Microsoft do not do this -
only open attachments you are expecting - delete the rest - you don't
miss what you didn't have etc etc...moan/warning over
