On my Windows 2000 system, recently memory usage has been very high.
Task Manager's "Performance" tab reported that about 1.2 Gigabytes
were in use. However, when I went to its "Processes" tab and added
up* the numbers in the "Mem Usage" column, I got a much smaller total,
more like 315 MB. My question is, what would account for the other
800 KB not listed?
*To add up the numbers, I used Alt-Prtsc to capture the screen, an
image utility to capture the clipboard, and an OCR program to convert
the image back to a spreadsheet format so I could add it up. Was
there an easier way I missed?
