Using the CPU gadget since yesterday. Are these resource gadgets reliable?
Yesterday my memory usage at idle was 42%, today it is 58% - thats quite
alot of difference.

If you open Task Manager and compare, you will see that the Sidebar gadget
is spot on ;)

Hi Jane, thanks for the reply. It seems to have settled down to around 42%
and that is with Windows Mail and IE7 running. It appears it takes a long
time (30mins +) to settle down from booting.

Indexing...

Can I turn it off?

Indexing is one of the new features of Vista that speeds up the search
features. Give it a while and it will calm down.

You don't mention the amount of RAM in this system, so posting the
percentage is not that informative. I haven't gotten around to installing
RC1, yet, but in Beta 2 I was seeing around 600-650MB of RAM in use at idle
with nothing of consequence running, but in my system that's around 40%.
Scalability and all. Keep in mind that Vista Ultimate needs a minimum of
1GB of RAM and if you have less, you will see an increase in disk activity
and also RAM usage since your pagefile will be accessed more often.
