Hi Everyone,
Since my last two posts: Layperson Has Multiple Issues & For Dave Patrick on
November 5th, I have researched upgrading the memory for my Dell OptiPlex
GX200 running Windows 2000 SP4 with NT Technology.
I currently have 128MB RAM (184-pin RIMM, PC800, ECC, Unbuffered)
upgradeable to 1G. My excitement faded once I saw the price points. On
Dell's Community forum, I read it is possible to upgrade by combining a 256MB
RAM with the existing 128MB so long as I place the 256 in the front slot. I
posted there with more hardware related questions, but would appreciate any
recommendations from the Technet Community.
Here is the big question:
Is it possible for me to procure a Windows 2000 reinstallation CD from
anywhere? It is no longer available through Dell and I have had no luck with
Microsoft for replacement anything on their factory installed products.
I would like to have OS recourse in the event something goes wrong with the
memory upgrade - and, the kind, Dave Patrick recommended a fresh install
after upgrading the memory.
As always, I appreciate and value your expertise.
Cheers,
-
