I'm running Windows XP Pro and today I added 128Mb of memory to the 256Mb I
already had. As you might expect there was a slight improvement in system
performance, apart from my 3-d Graphics card which refused to function
properly as long as the extra memory was on the board! Does memory need to
be paired when running XP?

If you have a problem after you install a memory card , then it works after
the memory card is removed then it would have to be a bad or wrong memory
card. Only buy your motherboard recommended memory and a name brand. Poor or
bad memory is the main source of XP problems. Jym

It's absolutely essential that any new RAM module(s) be fully
compatible with both the motherboard and/or any other RAM module(s)
already in the system. Additionally, there are sometimes jumper
switches on older motherboards that need to be reset for new RAM
configurations. Consult your motherboard's manual or the
manufacturer's web site for specific instructions and compatibility
requirements.
