you might go to kingston.com and check for drivers

you might go to kingston.com and check for drivers

No drivers are required / available for any versions of Windows Xp.
They are built-in.

Koolsteve: Which model? Does it show up is Disk Management? Does
your UB ports work with other devices?

My UB ports work with other devices.

Device Manager details:

Kingston DataTraveler 2.0USB Device

Device type: Disk drives
Manufacturer: (Standard disk drives)
Location: Location 0

Device status:
This device is working properly.

Device usage:
Use this device (enable)

I have tested the stick on a couple of friends computers and i
works??
So problem must be something to do with my Network or whatever??

Thanks so far for your imput, most appreciated.

Just another interesting observation. If I connect the stick before
booting - then items on the stick show on completion of boot.

Possible reason is that you usually have a network
or subst drive on the first availlable drive letter.
First come, first serve. If the flash drive gets
the letter while booting, the creation of the network
or subst drive fails. If the flash drive comes after
the subst or network drive, it's hidden behind and
not accessible.

Do you have a subst or network drive on this drive
letter?

Yes, if a network or subst drive is the problem, then
USBDLM would fix it just by installing it.

But I'm confused by the OP's report about the strange
"Says to Specify correct path" message...

I have two built-in Hard Disk Drives named (C:) and (D:).

I then have 3 Removable Storage Devices:
Floppy(A:), CD-RW Drive (E:) and DVD/CD-RW Drive (F:).

When I conntect the Memory Stick it shows as Drive (G:).

To be honest, you've lost me on "subst or network drive".
How would I check this out?
And what is a "USBDLM"?
Sorry for my technical inability.

Many thanks for your continued support.

OK, I've installed USBDLM. It indicates it's running. It shows drive G
when I ask for list. But still just white space when I open to view
contents.
Any further suggestions?

Try to add this to the USBDLM.INI (or create one).

[DriveLetters]
Letters=U-Z

This makes U to Z the new default drive letters for
USB drives. When the drive is attached for the next
time then it will get letter U:.

If its content is still not listed, then it isn't
drive letter problem.
Attaching an USB-Hub to the computer and the drive
to the USB-Hub may help if it's an incompatibilty
between computer and the USB drive. A passive USB-Hub
for five dollars is good enough for flash drives...
