Memory Stick photos will not displal/upload onto my desktop

Because I have Windows XP Pro, I no longer
need "PhotoStarter" but my photos won't upload
automatically like before when I had Win ME. I have
already downloaded SP1a and all the "hotfixes" associated
with SP1a but still my Memory Stick refuses to
cooperate. Can anyone PLEASE HELP me? I am desperate!
I have been at this for 48 Hours . . . solid. Thanks.
