Hello

I have a Dell Dimension C521 with the most recent bios and certified windows
vista drivers. I have a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate. I have a 8
- in - 1 memory card reader (SD, MMC, xD, CF, etc) and two front facing USB
ports. Whenever I insert an SD card or Memorex Travel drive, I get a STOP
error, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA, I think it is STOP 0x0000050.

It has been nothing but problems from day 1 with this Vista, and I am really
trying hard to make everything work, but I think I'm going to roll back to
Windows XP if I cannot use my memory cards/ or USB memory sticks.

if anyone has any advice, I'm open to it...

Thanks,
john

Sure sounds like a driver problem to me. Have you looked in Device
Manager to see if Vista thinks your USB hardware is working properly?

The voodoo incantation is usually to delete any USB-related hardware
in Device Manager and let Vista re-install the drivers on the next
reboot. (Sometimes it even works.) Watch for error messages.

Thanks for the help, the USB hardware appears to be working ok, no question
marks, or errors on any devices in device manager. I have removed all my USB
devices and uninstalled them from the device manager, and allowed windows to
reinstall them, but I get the same problem.

Yep... I've pretty much done everything except format and reinstall...I've
wasted more than 36 hours on this problem and I am fed the fuhq up...this is
the biggest piece of trash I have ever used in my entire life. Something as
simple as a USB memory stick or basic card reader can fuhq this operating
system up. If anyone has any other suggestions as to why a STOP ERROR
0x00000050 or 0x0000008e continues to happen upon inserting a memory card or
usb memory stick into the system feel free to share otherwise I'm going to
format and reinstall windows xp and send this trash back to microsoft for my
$250 bucks back.
