Memory Settings - Programs vs Cache

In System -- Advanced -- Memory Settings.

Under what circumstances would it be beneficial to tick the "Cache"
setting over the "Programs" setting ??

Try 'Help & Support', then enter "system cache" as the search string (use
the quote marks).
