Memory Reader on Laptop Needs to be Enabled

The 'safely remove' icon was not working for removing my digital camera
memory card so i found some way to disable the reader so that it would not
ruin my card when i took it out. Now it only makes a few blip noises when i
put it in and it doesnt show up or register even when i go to 'my computer'.
I think it is supposed to be the 'F:/' drive. I have tried everything
that i know to find how to enable or get the reader to work but have not had
success, pleeeeeeease help me.

FWIW, you only need to worry about "safely removing" when you have
*updated* the card, as by deleting files. And if you wait a few
seconds after any modification step, you'll be OK.

Disabling write-behind caching for the device is a safe way to
proceed, but it may result in a lot more (and slower) deletions
of large numbers of files.

Sorry but I meant my drive the memory card goes in is not showing up or
registering in 'my computer' or anywhere. The little message is not the
worry, the reader itself has been disabled by a different way other than just
the temporary 'safely remove' way. The window that gives me a choice of
what i want to do such as 'open with....' doesnt come up either. I can
download my pictures. Need to know how to enable or allow the reader to
automatically read or function when a card is put in. Thnx

You might want to look in Device Manager (My Computer, Properties,
Hardware, Device manager) to see if the device is present in 'Disk
Drives' or in USB controllers as a 'Mass Storage device'.

Make sure that the device is "enabled".

You might also replace the driver using the Device Manager (Drivers).
Just let Windows find the right driver and re-install it.
