Memory question

I need to buy a replacement 512 MB memory module, which on the suppliers
website are marked "for PC2100, PC2700, PC3200". What is the significance of
these numbers?
 
They refer to the MHz speed of the RAM modules. You need to match the speed
of the RAM stick that you are replacing.

Your best bet is to check out the website of whichever motherboard you have
installed and see what the maximum capacity and speed (MHz) your board is
capable of excepting.

You can replace the old memory with memory with a higher speed rating e.g. you an replace PC2100 (266mhz) memory with PC2700 (333mhz) memory. The PC2700 memory would run at the 266mhz speed of your motherboard.

Please keep in mind that PC 3200 and PC 2700 is backwards compatible
with PC 2100 anyway. In other words if your system only requires the
slower ram then the PC 3200 clocks back to work with the system. This
is one reason manufacturers have moreless stopped making PC 2100..
 
i tried to mix ram of two different speeds before but the faster one
didn't show up at all, only the slower one was in use
